Strategies for Living with a Chronic Condition

Barbara Neznek, RH, AHG, is offering a six-week Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) class on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. from February 13 through March 19, 2020 at Willow Tree Wisdom. This series of two-and-a-half-hour interactive workshops is for adults with chronic health conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, lung disease and other ongoing health problems.

The program may be particularly beneficial for those with more than one health condition, health problems that have begun to interfere with their valued life activities or anyone with difficulty following their given health recommendations.

CDSMP was developed by a team of researchers at Stanford University as a self-management education workshop to build participants‘ confidence in managing their health and keep them active and engaged in their lives.

Lessons include addressing the physical and psychological effects of chronic disease; exercising, getting proper nutrition and using medications appropriately; and communicating effectively with family, friends and health professionals.

Location: 6907 State Hwy. 30, Amsterdam. To register, call HealthLink Littauer at 518-736-1120. For more information, call Neznek at 518-843-6293.
