Earth-Centered Programs For a Journey to Harmony

by Loreanna Thomas

Willow Tree Wisdom, owned and operated by Barbara Neznek, an American Herbalist Guild registered herbalist, has opened a healing center located on a five-acre farm in Amsterdam, New York. Neznek has also completed Sandra Ingerman’s two-year Shamanic Teacher Training program, as well as all of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies courses. The grounds provide many herbs and vegetables, bee hives, horses, chickens, goats, dogs and cats. All of the animals on the farm were rescued, and enjoy the many visitors they receive.

Willow Tree Wisdom is a community resource committed to sharing Earth-centered healing services, products and heritage crafts. Neznek says, “We offer holistic health consultations, shamanic services, reiki, intuitive readings and crystal healing. We have a wonderful array of gifted healers, artisans and practitioners. We offer classes in basket-making, fiber arts, clay, drumming and making drums, medicine making, wild foraging and shamanism. We offer cut your own Christmas trees. We also have snowshoeing classes in the winter and late spring. We are also open by appointment.”

Their philosophy is that good health includes a healthy community and they offer many opportunities for participants to engage in community service. “We held an Arbor Day drum circle at the GFWC Century Club, in Amsterdam, and are also planning the club’s upcoming intuitive fair in October. We teach herbal medicine classes in schools and teach and lecture for various community organizations. Currently, we are helping to start a youth program at our municipal housing authority, as well as a medicine garden at the Amsterdam Community Garden,” says Neznek. They have also begun a monthly drum circle and beginner’s medicine-making class.

“There are seven physical needs of life. They are fresh air, pure water, exercise, sunshine, healthy diet, cleanliness, sufficient rest and sleep. The needs of emotional and spiritual balance and personal growth also need to be met in order to maintain health. When any of these needs or a combination of them is neglected, the result may be disease. Our goal is to help our clients restore balance and therefore, their health,” adds Neznek.

Willow Tree Wisdom is located at 6907 State Highway 30, in Amsterdam. For appointments, more information and a comprehensive list of events, call 518-843-6293 or visit WillowTreeWisdom.com.
