Advanced holistic energy healer Lynn M. Gelman, BHSP, RMT, has always been fascinated with natural health and how the body can heal itself using alternative modalities. She’s also a firm believer in practicing self-care. “Taking care of ourselves is so important. Many of us give so much to others, but neglect our own health and well-being.” Gelman focuses on natural healing at her Clifton Park Wellness Center, E.M.B.R.A.C.E. , an acronym for experience, meditate, breathe, reiki, awareness, chakra balance and evolve. Her space is dedicated to fostering vibrant health and wellness through the practices of energy, meditation, yoga and essential oils. “We are all unique, multidimensional beings of mind, body and spirit,” she says. “How we treat our bodies; our life experiences; and our daily thoughts, emotions and feelings all contribute to our overall health and wellness.”
Gelman says her interest in self-healing suddenly became a career path after reading renowned energy practitioner Barbara Brennan’s book Hands of Light in 2001. “I was so intrigued by what I read that I pursued my Reiki I certification as fast I could,” recalls Gelman, who continued her training to become a reiki master teacher by 2004. Her quest didn’t end there. Also intrigued with the healing modalities offered at the Chopra Center for Wellbeing, in Carlsbad, California, Gelman eventually trained with Deepak Chopra there and received certifications in Primordial Sound Meditation and the Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga. Gelmorealso is a graduate of a four-year, comprehensive program at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, which has enhanced her energy practice tremendously.
Gelman shares that many of her clients come to her seeking more balance in their lives, an alternative way to manage their pain or stresses or for help identifying emotional blocks that may be leading to physical pain. “Our thoughts and emotions are more powerful than we think. Simply identifying these emotional blocks, balancing our bodies and practicing positive thoughts can set us on our path to health and wellness,” she says. “When you’re in a free-flowing state of balance, you can better connect to your life’s purpose.”
Gelman explains that energy work is not a new concept. “From the beginning of time, the entire universe has been made of energy, and we’re all affected by it. Our own energy has an effect on everyone around us. We’ve all felt it before. Perhaps you were uncomfortable being around a person, but couldn’t figure out exactly why, or you met someone with such great energy that you were immediately uplifted. It’s all based on the energy they’re sending out.”
Gelman says that one of the most exciting parts of the journey for her clients is when they discover how to access their intuition. “They learn to trust themselves more and know that the universe has their best interests at heart,” she says. “Witnessing that ‘Aha!’ moment’ is so very rewarding for me. Working with my clients has filled my life with synchronicity. It is truly beautiful when people realize there is a complementary or alternate way outside of traditional medicine and doctor visits to facilitate healing in our bodies. Many amazing people and situations have walked through my practice doors, and I am honored to be a part of their journeys. What we do together is ‘wow’ stuff!”
