Saratoga Stress Reduction Program Teaches Peace

(L-R) Pierre Zimmerman, Caroline Russell Smith and Selma Demer

Registration is now open for the Saratoga Stress Reduction Program at One Big Roof Center for Mindful Practices. In this eight-week stress management course, classes are held from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning January 9, 2018. Eight Saturday morning classes from 8:30 to 10 a.m. beginning January 13, 2018 . Teachers include Selma Nemer, Ph.D., Caroline Russell Smith, LCSW, and Pierre Zimmerman, MS.

The course is based on the program created by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. One Big Roof Center for Mindful Practices has offered this program since 2005 with more than 3,000 graduates. Multiple forms of mindfulness meditation will be studied, as well as the latest neuroscience findings about the impact of mindfulness on the brain and our ability to heal.

While the program is personally therapeutic, it is also solidly practical, and offers concrete approaches to dealing with physical and emotional distress. Students discover they can experience a deeper sense of peace in the midst of a fast-paced, demanding and stressful life, and learn to navigate life’s challenges with greater ease.

Location: 538 Maple Ave. (Rte. 9), Saratoga Springs. Preregister (required) at 518-581-3180, ext. 307, or visit OneRoofSaratoga.com.
